KARACHI: The Sindh U-19 squad which recently won the National U-19 one day and three-day tournaments was feted here on Friday by the Sports and Youth Affairs department of Sindh who presented cheques of Rs 50,000 to the players in recognition of their feat.

Secretary Sports Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah presented the cheques and also gifted Sindhi caps, ajraks and shields to all the players. Director NCA at PCB, Ex-Test cricketer Nadeem Khan and coach Sindh team Tahir Mehmood were also present at the event.

Imtiaz Ali in his speech said that by rewarding the Sindh team on winning the national level tournament, the Gvt of Sindh wants to boost the players’ confidence and wants to encourage them to make further achievements. “This trend to reward winning teams will continue in the future as well and it will b part of legislation too so that it becomes a policy.

Nadeem Khan, while speaking, said: “The Sindh Govt has always supported PCB and Pakistan cricket and we are very thankful to CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah for that and for this gesture to encourage the Sindh cricketers.”

Later, a recorded video message from PCB’s CEO Wasim Khan thanking the Sindh Govt was also played.
