BAHAWALPUR: The Sammsatta police arrested a man on charge of attempting to rape a minor girl at village Khanqah Sharif on Sunday.
The girl’s father told police that his 12-year-old daughter had gone to a nearby shop. On her way to the shop, she was allegedly kidnapped by his neighbour who took her to an abandoned house and attempted to rape her.When his daughter did not return home after sometime, he, along with other people, started searching for her. They heard her screams from the abandoned house. They rushed to site and found the suspect attempting to rape the girl Police claimed to have arrested the suspect.
ACCIDENT: A man died while another was injured in an accident at Chak 12-Murad near Choonawala on the Hasilpur Road.
According to Rescue 1122, Muhammad Hussain (17) died and Nasir (18) was seriously injured in a collision between a tractor-trolley and motorcycle at Chak 12-Murad near Choonawala on the Hasilpur Road.
The Hasilpur police handed over the body to his family while the injured Nasir was shifted to hospital. A case has been registered against the driver of the tractor-trolley.
BODY FOUND: A 20-year-old man was found hanging from the ceiling fan of a room in Ahmedpur East city.
The Rescue 1122 officials identified the man as Dilawar, son of Arshad,
According to emergency service, a caller had informed them that the body of Dilawar was hanged with the ceiling fan in a house in Mohallah Loharan on the Government Degree College Road. The rescuers got the body down from the fan and handed it over to Ahmedpur East police.
The police officials said they had launched a search for his parents. They said the legal action might follow if the youth’s parents registered a complaint. Police sent the body to the tehsil headquarters hospital for a postmortem.
BAITUL MAAL: The District Zakat Committee claimed to have distributed a sum of Rs6m among 1,000 deserving people, so far.
This was stated by district Baitul Maal Committee chairman Syed Salahuddin Jilani while distributing cheques among 50 deserving men and women of different categories. The recipients included those who needed funds for dowry and education.
