LAHORE: Funeral prayers for renowned calligrapher Ustad Khurshid Alam Gohar Qalam were offered on Bahawalpur Road before he was laid to rest at Miani Sahib graveyard on Tuesday.

A number of artists, calligraphers and students of the late calligrapher attended the prayers.

Gohar Qalam was suffering from acute ulcer for the last few months.

He had a surgery about two months ago and was again admitted to the Shaikh Zayed Hospital with some health complications some days back but he could not survive.

Gohar Qalam is survived by a son and a widow. Qul for him would be held after Zohr prayers at Baghdadi Mosque near his residence in Neelam Block, Iqbal Town.

National College of Arts Principal Murtaza Jafri, in his condolence message, said Ustad Khurshid Alam Gohar Qalam was a precious asset to the country.
