THE WEEK THAT WAS

Jalan | ARY, Tue-Wed 8.00pm

Hubby Asfandyar (Emaad Irfani) is gradually but steadily realising the mistake he has made by marrying the evil and self-centered Neesha (Minal Khan), who has no interest in looking after him nor his baby from his first marriage, who actually happens to be her nephew. And then she spots her ex-fiance and cousin Ahmar (Fahad Shaikh), whom she had mercilessly dumped in the not-so-distant past, for Asfandyar. Ahmar is now a successful businessman and Neesha is immediately drawn to his status. She visits him at odd hours and even asks Ahmar if he would marry her if she left Asfand, whom she describes to Ahmar as a terrible husband. While Ahmar seems to be unfazed by Neesha’s overt behaviour, his sister Humaira (Maira Khan) calls him and overhears Neesha in the background. When Ahmar’s wife Areej (Hajra Yamin) finds out about Ahmar spending time with Neesha, she confronts Asfandyar and Ahmar both. Minal Khan has proved her acting prowess as Neesha, a role she totally owns. The episodes, running two days consecutively, may have prolonged scenes but the twists in the story make Jalan a fun watch.

Mehrposh | Geo TV, Fridays 8.00pm

The story takes an unprecedented turn with Mehru (Ayeza Khan) accepting an office project for which she has to go out of station. Her primary purpose in doing so is to get away from married sister Ayat’s (Zainab Shabbir) life, and the shenanigans with Ayat’s husband Shahjahan (Danish Taimoor). But suddenly, Mehru’s mother Nusrat (Sania Saeed) falls ill, and Mehru’s trip is stalled. The good thing coming out of this is that Mehru’s very presentable new boss (Affan Khan) pops over to the hospital to meet Nusrat, and also gets introduced to Shahjahan who doesn’t seem too pleased about it. Affan Khan’s character makes an intriguing entry in the story which was dragging a bit, with Mehru and her sister Ayat’s miseries over one man Shahjahan.

What To Watch Out For

Ghissi Piti Mohabbat | ARY, Thursdays 8.00pm

With a logical attitude and a practical approach to her second marriage, Samia (Ramsha Khan) weds annoying older man Khalil. Khalil’s first wife Farkhunda Begum (Shaheen Khan) cannot contain her rage, and decides to take revenge from Khalil, apparently by poisoning him. Khalil collapses and dies on the wedding night in front of a flabbergasted Samia. In the darkest moment in the serial, Farkhunda confesses the crime to Samia. But tragedies don’t linger in Faseeh Bari’s story. After becoming both a divorcee and a widow, Samia goes back to work, where her new quirky colleague Basharat (Ali Abbas) is falling for her. GPM is not to be missed.
