ISLAMABAD: As many as 14 people died of Covid-19 in the twin cities - eight in Islamabad and six in Rawalpindi - with 522 more cases surfacing on Sunday.

Officials said 392 people tested positive in the capital and 130 in the garrison city.

According to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the overall tally of cases in the capital has risen to 26,569 with the death count at 278. On Saturday, the city had reported 458 cases. It said 25 people contracted the virus in G-13, 20 in G-9, 19 in G-8, 17 in G-5, 15 in I-8, 15 in F-6, 13 in I-10, 13 in G-10 and 12 each in Ghauri Town, F-7 and Bhara Kahu. As many as 11 cases each surfaced in Tarlai, I-9, G-11 and F-10, nine cases each in Soan Garden, G-8, F-11, E-11, Chak Shahzad, Banigala and Bahria Town, eight in DHA, seven each in G-7 and F-8, six cases each in Zarai Taraqiati Bank, Margalla Town, Jhangi Syedan and Sihala, five cases each in National Police Foundation, Naval Anchorage, Korang Town, H-13, Green Avenue and Alipur, four cases in Media Town, three each from PWD, River Garden, G-15 and Emaar Housing Society, two cases each in Jinnah Garden, F-5, E-7, D-12, Burma Town, Bahria Enclave and B-17 and one case each was reported in Golra, G-14, E-9 and E-8.

Tally of positive cases in capital rises to 26,569 with 278 deaths

Rawalpindi

Six people died of Covid-19 and 130 people tested positive on Sunday while 125 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering.

The deceased were aged between 21 and 70 years and were residents of Kahuta, People’s Colony, Wah Cantonment, Sadiq Colony and Pindora. They were admitted to different hospitals of the city.

Since March, 9,263 people have tested positive in Rawalpindi district out of which 829 were from outside the district. Of these, 363 people have died and 7,889 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.

As many as 1,011 patients are under treatment, including 101 in Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Red Crescent Hospital and the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.

Moreover, 630 people are waiting for their test results and 910 patients are isolated in their homes.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood said 10,958 people tested positive in the division since March - 9,263 in Rawalpindi, 737 in Attock, 609 in Jhelum and 349 in Chakwal.

He said 9,363 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery in the four districts - 7,889 in Rawalpindi, 681 in Attock, 537 in Jhelum and 276 in Chakwal.

So far, 439 people have died in Rawalpindi division - 363 in Rawalpindi, 21 in Attock, 10 in Jhelum and 45 in Chakwal.

Gujar Khan

Three more people tested positive and one person died of Covid-19 in the district of Jhelum, Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Waseem Iqbal said on Sunday.

He said the deceased, a resident of Jhelum, was under treatment at Major Aziz Bhatti Hospital in Gujrat. He was shifted to the hospital a few days ago after his condition became unstable.

Dr Waseem said 33,189 people were screened for Covid-19, of whom 609 tested positive while 535 patients have so far recovered and 10 passed away.

He said 30 schools were sealed after some students and teachers tested positive in the district and 25 of the institutions have been reopened.

At present, 13 patients are under treatment at the DHQ hospital, he added.
