CHAKWAL: A man allegedly murdered his 27-year-old son over a domestic dispute in Pir Ladla, Chakwal.

According to sources in police and Rescue 1122, the deceased was identified as Mohammad Waqar - father to a one-year-old daughter - whose younger brother informed them about the incident.

He said quarrels between Waqar and the suspect had become frequent as he wanted to sell their house in order to pay his wife the money he owed her after losing the maintenance suit she filed against him in court after they divorced.

“On Saturday night my father woke me up and told me that he was not feeling well. He asked me to bring a cold drink for him from the market,” he said, adding upon returning, he saw his father attack Waqar with a cleaver while he was asleep.

He said the suspect then changed his clothes, put the blood-stained clothes and cleaver in a shopping bag and escaped.

A police official told Dawn that a case has been registered against the suspect and will be arrested soon.
