HYDERABAD: Federal Energy Minister Omer Ayub Khan has assured the business community of Hyderabad that it would be given representation in the board of directors (BoD) of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco).

Prime Minister Imran Khan would announce a reduction in power tariff in three to four days, said the minister at a meeting with businessmen in local circuit house on Wednesday during his visit to the city.

According to a press release of Hyderabad Chambers of Small Traders and Small Industry issued on Thursday, the minister said that funds would be released for establishing more grid stations.

Mr Ayub said that cranes would be provided to every subdivision and technical staff would be appointed to resolve problems.

He said minimum possible loadshedding would be given effect where recovery was 100 per cent. He said that electricity tariff for industry would remain the same and the PM would himself announce reduction in power tariff in three to four days.

He said that four workshops would be established for repair of transformers of 25, 50 and 200kVA while faulty transformers would be replaced. He said Hesco would meet chamber’s representatives every fortnight so that problems could be resolved.

The minister urged business leaders to approach him through email about any issues confronting them.

The chamber’s delegation comprised of its patron Amin Khatri, vice president Ahmed Idrees, former president Akram Ansari, Sikandar Rajput and others.
