SWABI: A transgender individual was seriously injured in an attack here on Monday, police said.

The transgender person identified as Farooq Khan was immediately shifted to the district headquarters hospital, where doctors referred him to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, in critical condition. “The condition of the transgender person was critical,” said a doctor on condition of anonymity.

The injured belongs to Warsak Road, Peshawar, but at present he is living in Shahmansoor.

The colleagues of the injured told the police that accused, Liaqat Khan, stopped the car they were travelling in near the Pirtab Mor, and after arguing with them, opened fire, injuring Farooq Khan.

The transgender persons said they were returning to their home in Shahmansoor after performing in a music concert in Buner.

It was learnt that the accused had earlier invited them for a music show but the transgender persons declined which had made him angry.

A police official said they had arrested the accused along with the pistol used in the incident.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Raees Dad was shot dead by unknown assailants in Gar village.

Police said the deceased was going in a car when unknown attackers targeted him, killing him on the spot. The police registered an FIR and started investigations.
