SWABI: Electromy-ography (EMG) machine, which measures electrical activity of muscles in response to nerves’ stimulation, has been stolen from Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi.

Confirming the incident, employees of the college told this correspondent on condition of anonymity that the stock register had been removed from the college while three storekeepers were suspended.

The exact price of EMG machine is not known, but one of the officials said it was about Rs2.8 million.

The employees said it was responsibility of the senior officials to take action against those involved in theft cases, as the case of missing laptops was still fresh in their minds.

Sources said that in another such incident in the college Rs500,000 cash had been stolen from the office of Prof Fassehuz Zaman, but the college management did not register an FIR against anyone.

When contacted, Prof Zaman said they would brief mediapersons on these matters soon.

LIFE IMPRISONMENT: Two persons were sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case by the model court judge Mohammad Zeb.

Aqil Mohammad advocate who represented the victim party told mediapersons on Thursday that Ajoon Khan, a resident of Yar Hussain area, had registered an FIR with the local police on October 27, 2017, against Fayaz Khan and Yasir Khan, alleging that his son Ehtisham Khan was killed by them.

After completion of arguments by lawyers from both sides, the judge handed down life imprisonment to the two accused.

JUDICIAL LOCKUP: Government contractors working on Swabi judicial lockup project in Shahmansoor Township complained here on Thursday that they had Rs300 million outstanding against the government.

The complaint was made to Taj Mohammad Tarand, CM’s special assistant on prisons, when he visited the under-construction judicial lockup to inspect the construction activities.

MrTarand assured the contractors that funds for them would be released soon.
