KOHAT: The police of Orakzai tribal district arrested four terrorism suspects and seized weapons from them in a raid on Thursday.

DSP Sawar Ali told mediapersons that they had information about the presence of some suspects in a particular area.

They formed a team and conducted a raid in which four persons were arrested with three Kalashnikovs, 2,400 cartridges and 18 chargers. The suspects have been put in the lock-up in Ghiljo police post.

ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: The district administration and health department, lower Kurram, sought public support in the anti-polio campaign in an appeal after formally inaugurating it on Thursday.

Assistant commissioner, lower Kurram district, Zahid Younis and district health officer for upper and central Kurram tehsils, Dr Inayatur Rehman at a function administered polio drops to a child for the official anti-polio campaign to kick-start from Sept 21.

They urged the elders to give polio drops to all children below five years and save them from the crippling disease.

Meanwhile, in Kohat the district administration expressed its willingness to form an alliance with NGOs for success of the anti-polio campaign and providing facilities to the special and elderly persons.

District social welfare officer, Kohat, held a meeting with the NGOs on Thursday to take their input for registration of elderly people above 70 years for issuance of Ihteram cards and making the anti-polio drive successful with their cooperation.
