Death on six counts for Chunian child killer

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Monday handed down death penalty on six counts to a man of Chunian in two more cases of rape-cum-murder.

Sohail Shahzad, the convict, had already been sentenced to capital punishment in two other identical cases registered by the City Chunian police station in 2019 under sections 302, 367-A, 377 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

Besides the capital punishment, ATC-II Judge Muhammad Iqbal also handed down life imprisonment to the convict on two counts with a collective fine of Rs6.4 million.

The convict had killed a boy after sexually assaulting him. Later during the investigation he confessed to committing sexual assaults and murders of several children.
