Three injured as bomb targets police mobile in Dir

LOWER DIR: Three policemen were injured when a mobile van of Haya Serai police station was hit by an improvised explosive device in Maidan area here on Monday evening, residents and police said.

They said the mobile van was on a routine patrol, adding three policemen, including the van driver Nazir, Hawaldar Tariq Munir and constable Jan Bacha, sustained minor injuries and the vehicle was partially damaged.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

The incident spread fear and panic in the locality.

Soon after the incident, the law enforcement agencies personnel cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

It is the second attack against police during the current month.

A police post in Kumbar Maidan was attacked by unknown miscreants on the night of August 11.
