DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two policemen, including a DSP, were injured during an exchange of firing between the personnel of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and terrorists at Zafarabad Colony on Tank Road here on Tuesday, police said.

They said that CTD had launched an operation on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists on Tank Road. After seeing the police, the terrorists started firing which was returned by the police.

During the fire exchange, DSP Jalil Khan Wazir and constable Rafiullah were seriously injured. They were taken to the district headquarters hospital. A terrorist was also stated to have suffered injuries in the encounter.

Heavy contingent of police, bomb disposal squad, army and Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot after the incident and launched a search operation. According to doctors, the injured policemen were in a stable condition. Later, they were shifted to Peshawar by a helicopter.

Meanwhile, three people were killed in different incidents in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday.

Police said that a young man Mohammad Waqas died when his motorbike hit a donkey cart on Dera-Chashma Road at Dhakki Morr. Eyewitnesses said Waqas lost his balance while doing a wheelie and his bike hit the donkey cart. He was seriously injured and later succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed and his friend injured when a speedy truck hit their bike near Kiri Khaisur on Chashma Road. The deceased was identified as Mateen, a resident of Rahmanikhel, and the injured Mohammad Aslam.

In a separate incident, a man identified as Humayun was electrocuted while fixing a fault in the electricity supply line here.
