MITHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh chapter information secretary Aajiz Dhamrah has lashed out at Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan for what he termed a failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government to complete the costly Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Peshawar.

Addressing a news conference at Malhi House here on Thursday, he said the PM had inaugurated the “incomplete” BRT project in Peshawar.

He said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was frequently asked to investigate the project which, according to him, was riddled with various controversies and serious allegations of massive corruption.

Referring to a television talk show in which Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz had himself described the BRT project as faulty one, Mr Dhamrah demanded a clarification from the federal minister about his current position on the project.

He asked Imran Khan to stop inaugurating the projects and schemes which had not been launched by his government. Mr Khan and his team members were only fond of taking credit of various schemes launched by previous governments, he observed.

He said NAB officials had already exposed themselves before the people of Pakistan for their “selective” accountability of the political rivals of the PTI government which was imposed on the nation through undemocratic forces.

The PPP leader asked the NAB officials to mend their ways and stop victimising persons like Asif Ali Zardari, Khursheed Ahmed Shah and others.

He asked “vested interests” to stop hatching conspiracies against the elected Sindh government.

He lashed out at those who were daydreaming to topple the Sindh government and bring Karachi under the control of the federal government.

He vowed that such tactics to bring the PPP leadership under pressure for some changes in the clauses of the Constitution would be resisted and foiled by the party workers and people of Sindh and Pakistan.

He made it clear that the PPP leadership had never deviated even an inch from their stance on democracy, its importance and relevance.

Mr Dhamrah said they were ready to render any sacrifice for a prosperous and democratic Pakistan and its Constitution.

Present on the occasion were MPA Hina Dastagir, Shushil Malani, Nandlal Malhi and other PPP leaders.
