QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that a master plan, which will require Rs150 million, has been included in the provincial budget of the current financial year for improvement of 770km coastline.

He said in a tweet on Saturday vast opportunities existed for investment in the coastal areas of Balochistan.

The chief minister said that his government had been taking steps to promote eco-tourism in the province. Seven tourist resorts, including jetties, would be set up at a cost of Rs1,000 million, he added.

“Plans to build five beach parks are also included in the current year’s budget,” he said.

Mr Alyani said measures were being taken to boost the fishing sector in the coastal belt of the province.

“A feasibility study is being carried out at a cost of Rs200m to boost income of the people living in coastal areas,” he added.

The chief minister said tree plantation and housing schemes were being launched for protection of marine life in Gwadar.

He said that the coastal areas of Balochistan were ideal for economic and social activities. “There are vast opportunities for investment in the tourism sector,” he added.
