Marble cakes are usually a blend of vanilla and chocolate, but today I will share an easy recipe of a slightly different one, where instead of coco powder, we are going to use Milo or Ovaltine powder, whichever is available.

Chocolate chips are added to enhance to the flavour, but you can also add nuts such as almonds or walnuts, according to your taste. This is a very moist and soft loaf, which you can make in a baking pan of any shape and it will still turn out well.

As usual, there is a word of caution: you can do all the steps yourself easily, just let an adult handle the baking part for ovens are too hot for youngsters to use.

Ingredients

• 1.5 cups flour

• 3/4 cup sugar

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 3/4 cup Milo/Ovaltine powder

• 2 eggs

• 1/2 cups chocolate

chips

• 1 cup milk

• 1/2 cup melted butter

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees centigrade.

In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar and baking power. Now add eggs, milk and butter. Mix these either with a hand beater or an electric beater. Now divide it into two portions by pouring half into a smaller bowl.

In the larger bowl, add the Milo or Ovaltine powder and mix well. Now grease a baking pan or a loaf tin. First pour half the Ovaltine mixture into it and then pour half the plain mixture. Now sprinkle half the chocolate chips. Repeat by pouring the Ovaltine mixture and finally the plain batter and finishing off with chocolate chips on top.

Bake in the oven for 50-55 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean and the mixture starts to leave the sides. Take it out and let it cool for 10 minutes and then run a knife lightly along the sides of the loaf and take it out. You can have it as it is or use any frosting, but I didn’t do anything. An ideal teatime treat when you are looking for something moist and sweet.
