LAHORE: The PML-N leaders and workers held protest camps in different parts of the city on Thursday against the recent massive increase in petroleum prices, price hike and inflation.

The party leaders and workers chanted slogans against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government and Prime Minister Imran Khan for “making the lives of the masses miserable”.

Speaking on the occasion, PML-N Punjab president Rana Sanaullah alleged the price of petrol was increased to benefit the mafia in the ranks of PTI.

He said the people were earlier looted by sugar and flour mafias that, he alleged, were being supervised by Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.

He said the PTI government’s only function was to target the opposition. He said the government was using the National Accountability Bureau as a tool against the opposition leaders.

Mr Sanaullah said Imran Khan was a hurdle in developing a national consensus on important issues, adding that the midterm election was the only solution to the crises the country was facing today.

PML-Q: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said doctors and para-medical staff performing duties in Corona wards should be paid double additional salary allowance.

In a statement on Thursday, Shujaat said the doctors fighting Covid-19 should also be allotted 10-marla plots through balloting in the housing societies. “The housing society that takes part in this process should be given tax relief and this be implemented forthwith,” he demanded.

He said the doctors and paramedical staff should also be paid special bonuses so that they could realise their importance.
