LAHORE: Record 2,040 new confirmed Covid cases were reported from all over the Punjab province besides 22 deaths during the last 24 hours.

According to official figures released on Friday, of the total confirmed cases, record 1,095 were reported from Lahore, 218 from Rawalpindi, 120 from Faisalabad, 97 from Multan, 65 from Sialkot and 60 from Gujranwala.

The other cases were reported from Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, Khanewal, Vehari, Chiniot, Attock, Chakwal, Toba Tek Singh, Rajanpur and Layyah.

Of the total new deaths, 12 were reported from Lahore and three each from Faisalabad and Rawalpindi while others from Attock, Gujrat, Multan, Nankana Sahib, Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar khan and Sahiwal.

The total death toll and confirmed cases of coronavirus in Punjab have reached 629 and 33,144, respectively.

A spokesperson for the health department said out of the total confirmed patients 7,806 recovered completely.
