RAWALPINDI: The Government today [May 28] announced administrative action in the case of another 28 Class One officers — 15 dismissed, 11 retired and two reinstated. The announcement by the Establishment Division said that the President passed the orders after “personally examining each case”.

Action in the cases of 211 out of the 303 officers who were suspended under Martial Law Regulation No. 58 had been announced in five previous lists. Of them 136 have been dismissed from service, 55 retired and 20 reinstated.

The announcement said the President’s orders being of an administrative nature were without prejudice to any subsequent judicial action which might be taken under the ordinary law or the Martial Law Regulations against those dismissed. — Agency

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Dacca,] At least 40 people were injured, five seriously, when two rival groups of Adamjee Jute Mills workers clashed this afternoon [May 28] ... According to one version, clash took place at the mills premises when one labour union was pressing for observing Hartal tomorrow at the opposition of rival group.
