HYDERABAD: Sindh Hari Committee’s Comrade Azhar Jatoi along with several office-bearers and supporters laid a wreath on the grave of eminent leader of peasants’ rights movement Comrade Hyder Bux Jatoi on his 50th death anniversary here on Thursday.

Mr Jatoi paid homage to the services rendered by the late leader and said he had challenged looters and plunderers of Sindh’s resources. Hyder Jatoi not only organised a sustained movement for the rights of peasants but also got the Tenancy Act enacted and led a struggle against One Unit.

Sindh National Party (NP) president Comrade Taj Marri said that Comrade Jatoi had raised his voice for oppressed communities especially haris and labourers and also faced trial and tribulations. He said that without empowering haris, democracy could not be strengthened.

The committee’s senior vice president, Samar Jatoi, said that haris of Sindh were still suffering and were being denied their rights. He said that while people were facing challenging times due to coronavirus outbreak, rulers were busy in their own politics.
