Five people working at the Khyber Medical University (KMU) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The patients include a doctor, two technologists and two class IV employees.

The KMU's Public Health Reference Lab (PHRL) is the first testing laboratory in Pakistan to have reported infections in staff.

The lab's staff has said that the provincial government was working on increasing testing capacity under pressure, which is putting the lives of people at stake.

The staff of KMU has requested the administration to shut down the facility for a few days in order to disinfect the premises. Furthermore, they have asked for the testing limit to be set at 250 which would be conducted by experienced staff only, as currently there are many employees who are not trained.
