Bomb defused, grenades recovered in Bajaur

KHAR: The police claimed to have thwarted sabotage bids by defusing a bomb in hilly Nawagai subdivision and recovering two hand grenades from a field in Khar tehsil.

According to a statement issued by district police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah on Monday, the explosive device that was planted near the house of a local namely Imran Khan in Charming locality, was recovered and defused by personnel of Bomb Disposal Unit.

It said the BDU officials were immediately dispatched to the area soon after receiving information about the presence of bomb there.

The statement said the BDU personnel also recovered two hand grenades from a field in Taraki area of Khar tehsil. The local farmers were digging a field when they spotted the grenades and informed the police personnel at a nearby post.

The BDU personnel recovered the grenades.

Also in the day, four youths were critically wounded when two motorcycles collided head-on in Khar town on Sunday evening.

Rescue 1122 officials said the collision occurred due to over-speeding. They said the wounded youth were shifted to Khar hospital.
