LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency has recovered Rs600,000 from seven women who had embezzled the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) funds.

According to directions of the FIA Punjab zone-II Director Hamayun Masood and supervision of Deputy Director Bahawalpur Altaf Gohar Wattoo, all beneficiaries of BISP have been traced.

“Seven women admitted that they took money from the BISP either being government servant or spouse of a public servant. They were not entitled to receive monetary benefit from the BISP. The total amount of Rs600,000 has been embezzled by them which is deposited with the exchequer,” it said.
