LAHORE: An entertaining and melodious evening in connection with Baloch Culture Day was organised at Alhamra Art Centre on Monday.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was the chief guest on the occasion. Groups performing traditional Balochi dance and songs enthralled the audience. The evening was organised by the information and culture department in collaboration with Punjab Council of Arts and Lahore Arts Council. The event was attended by a number of officials and staff of the culture department, including Secretary Raja Jahangir.

Prior to the cultural performances, the chief minister visited a painting exhibition at Alhamra Art Gallery that portrayed the life and culture of Balochistan. He also visited a book stall displaying books on Baloch culture, lifestyle and society.

The musical evening began with a performance by students of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts. Singers Iman Fatima and Abdur Rauf sang a national song along with a group of singers. They also sang a Balochi song, which was thoroughly appreciated, especially by the Baloch in the audience.

A delegation of performers from Quetta and Baloch students among the audience were seen enjoying the celebration of their culture.

Zahm Darees -- the famous Balochi sword dance -- was also enjoyed by the audience. The evening also featured an entertaining chaap dance by Bugti students of the Punjab University. Artist Ghaus Bakhsh Buzdar also enthralled the audience with some Balochi songs.
