QUETTA: Six people burned to death when an LPG tanker caught fire after a blast near Quetta’s western bypass on Sunday night.

According to police, the incident took place at a time when the victims were loading betel nut bags onto the empty tanker for smuggling them to Karachi.

At the time of the explosion the tanker was parked in a storage depot of a private company.

Police and personnel of other security forces rushed to the scene along with rescue workers. But the operation was postponed till Tuesday morning.

“Six completely burnt bodies have been recovered from the tanker. The tanker was shifted to the Bolan Medical College Hospital,” a police officer said. The victims were identified as Jamil Ahmed, Jan Mohammad, Abdul Rahim, Abdul Basit, Abdul Aziz and Abdul Jabbar.
