QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Secondary and Higher Education Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind has said that he will not tolerate corruption and ghost schools and teachers and asked National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate corruption cases in the education department.

Speaking at his first press conference here on Tuesday after assuming office, the minister said: “My first priority is to identify ghost teachers, schools and employees of the education department.”

On this occasion, Secondary Education Secretary Mohammad Tayyab Lehri and other officials of the department briefed journalists about the affairs of the department.

Sardar Rind said that preparations were under way to bring changes in the education department and a new education policy would be announced in two weeks time.

Sardar Rind, who has established a residential education institute in his village Sunni Shoran while using his own financial resources, where hundreds of students from across Balochistan are studying under experienced educationists, said: “I will utilise my expertise for promotion of education in Balochistan during the remaining three and half years of the provincial coalition.”

The minister expressed his reservation over the performance of NAB in Balochistan and said that it was “sleeping over corruption” in the province though it had taken action against corrupt people in three other provinces.
