LAHORE: It is essential for medical students to demonstrate their abilities by working hard in the field of research and reference.

These remarks were made by Prof Dr Khalid Saeed Khan from the UK during his lecturer on ‘Methodology and article writing of research work’ for medical students at the Lahore General Hospital.

Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-Freed Zafar, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.

Prof Khalid Saeed said there was no shortage of talent among Pakistani doctors and specialists who were educated from various Pakistani medical colleges and postgraduate medical institutes were serving in different countries.

Mr Khan said the professionalism of Pakistani experts was in no way less than that of doctors of the developed countries; however, it could be enhanced by continuing research work and updating knowledge in the medical field.

PGMI Principal Prof Al-Freed Zafar appreciated the visit of British Professor Dr Khalid Saeed Khan on his own expense to facilitate free education and training for PG and undergraduate students at PGMI/AMC.

He said the PGMI was spending Rs10m annually on research department but this amount was less than the requirement. He urged the students to take full advantage of the rare opportunities that came their way at no extra cost so that they could graduate from college and become good therapists.

Prof Zafar called upon the doctors to work for the benefit of ailing humanity and not just to make money.

At the end of the ceremony, Prof Khan was presented with a souvenir by Prof Al-Fareed Zafar.
