KARACHI, Aug 13: Senior pathologist and in charge of Jinnah Post Graduate Blood Bank, Prof Syed Abdul Mujib, expressed serious concern regarding the reopening of unregistered blood banks in the vicinity of the JPMC, causing risks to public life.

Prof Mujib reminded that despite warnings of stern action against these banks, many of such banks found to be indulged in unethical practices had re-emerged and were back in business.

It may be mentioned that of nearly 100 blood banks in the city no more than 28 are registered with the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority.

Many of the blood banks are also operational in the city under the garb of laboratories.—APP
