LAHORE: The Senior Vice-President of West Pakistan, Council Muslim League, Mian Nizamuddin Haider, yesterday [Dec 9] demanded that Bahawalpur should be restored as a separate and full-fledged province following the dismemberment of One Unit.

Addressing a Press Conference here he said he was not interested in the revival of Bahawalpur as a princely state. Instead, it should be made a separate province like Punjab or Sind and the appointment of the Governor should be left to the Central Government.

Answering a question, he said the Amir of Bahawalpur could be appointed as the constitutional Governor of the province provided the next Assembly of the Province accepts him for the office.

The Council League leader welcomed President Yahya’s remarks that One Unit was being broken in deference to the wishes of the people.
