UNITED NATIONS: Turkish Foreign Minister Ihsan Sabri Caglayangil met Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim last evening [Oct 7] and urged him to intercede with Israeli authorities to stop desecration of Muslim holy places in occupied Jerusalem, according to informed sources. Mr Caglayangil also conveyed to him the feelings of grave indignation among members of the Islamic Conference over the latest attack on Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron. He did so in his capacity as Chairman of the Islamic Foreign Ministers Conference... . ... Mr Caglayangil was mandated to see the Secretary-General and apprise him of the serious situation after the delegations of Jordan and the Palestine Liberation Organisation brought up the matter, sources said. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by our staff reporter,] pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia for performing Haj are carrying trunk loads of commercial items and some of them have been caught before boarding the ships by the Sea Customs. One such pilgrim was carrying tens of thousands of cotton caps and “Tasbih” in his baggage. When the baggage was searched some travel documents were also recovered, which showed that he had already performed Haj last year and had made a wrong declaration.
