LONDON: The Moscow radio today [Dec 10] reported a special Communique on Franco-Soviet talks in which “complete unanimity of view was reached”. General de Gaulle has now left Moscow. A treaty of alliance and mutual assistance has been signed in Moscow between Soviet Russia and France.

The text of the Communique said: “The visit of General de Gaulle, head of the French Provisional Government and of Mr. Bidault, French Foreign Minister, was marked by numerous manifestations of sympathy which link the people of France to the peoples of the Soviet Union; and which were strengthened by experiences suffered by both the nations during the war…

“The discussions disclosed complete unanimity of views and a most sincere desire for close collaboration. Both governments once again emphasised their determination to continue fighting until complete victory over Germany was achieved and their will to take jointly all necessary measures for the protection of Europe from fresh aggression.”
