RAWALPINDI: The United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan have presented simultaneously to the Government[s] of Pakistan and … India their final terms for implementation of the truce agreement here and in New Delhi, today [April 28]. The Commission has requested for replies from the two Governments to these terms within one week. The terms include, in part, schedule for withdrawal of troops and fixing a demarcation line based upon factual positions occupied by the two armies on Jan 1, 1949. In a covering letter to the two Governments the Commission stated: [“]The Commission does not believe fruitful results will be obtained from further discussions. It is in this spirit that the Commission requests an unreserved acceptance of the enclosed terms.”
A Press note released by the UNCIP here this evening … [said]: “The Chairman, M Alfredo Lozano … saw the Acting Minister for External Affairs, Mr Gopalasawami Ayyangar, in New Delhi, while the Vice-Chairman, Mr Robert MaCatee, presented the … terms to Mr Mushtaq Ahmed Gurmani, Pakistan Minister without Portfolio, in Rawalpindi.”
