ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said on Friday that he did not need Article 58 2(b) to dissolve parliament as it was working smoothly in the interest of nation.

“As far as opposition’s threats are concerned whoever wants to leave the parliament he/she is most welcome to do so, we will not be cowed down by their threats of resignation,” the president said while talking to a private television channel here.

“I know I can use Article 58 2(b) to dissolve parliament but I won’t do it,” he stressed, says an Online agency report.

The president said he introduced a strong democracy in the country along with political reforms, parliament is working well and why it should be dissolved.

Responding to a query, the president said it was very disheartening when people blamed Pakistan for terrorist activities any part of the world.

“We have broken the backbone of Al Qaeda’s network but still people use to blame us,” he said and added that the security forces had eliminated the terror network’s entire infrastructure from the country but still people blamed the country which really hurt.

He said that those involved in the London blast were not Pakistani nationals but were British.

“It is true that three were of Pakistani origin, and at least two had travelled to Pakistan on a number of occasions. But all four were brought up, educated and presumably radicalized in the UK.”

President Musharraf said that there was no reason for blaming Pakistan for these attacks.

He said: “If the events of the last few years teach us anything about the terrorism it is that the extremist-terrorism such as occurred last month has nothing to do with an individual nation’s identity.” — Online
