SWABI: The federal government has planned to build a women and children hospital in Swabi district at a cost of Rs600 million.

Sources told this correspondent here on Saturday that the funds for the hospital project had been allocated in the annual development programme (ADP) with the efforts of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.

Quoting Mr Qaiser, the sources said that the hospital would have all modern health facilities. They said that the communication and works department had already been told to hire a consultant, for which an advisement had been published.

The consultant would prepare the feasibility report and after that an advertisement would be issued by the C&W department for starting construction work.

When contacted, MPA Rangiaz Khan said that the rural health centre (RHC), Kunda, was a suitable place for the project, as it was easily approachable for people from across the district.

The total land of Kunda RHC is 100 kanals where the women and children could be easily built.

“This was also discussed with the health officials who also gave a green signal for the project,” he said.

SUSPENSION OF GAS SUPPLY: Leakage of the main pipeline caused suspension of gas supply to Swabi Khas union council here on Saturday.

The consumers said that they faced difficulties as the supply was stopped early in the morning. They said it was responsibility of the SNGPL staff to inform the consumers about any suspension of gas supply.

When contacted, an SNGPL official said that the repair work was underway and gas supply would be restored soon.

Meanwhile, the Swabi Union of Journalists on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against desecration of the Holy Quran in Norway and demanded action against those involved in the heinous act.
