QUETTA: Balochistan Governor retired Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai has assured that every possible assistance would be provided to Sardar Bahadur Khan (SBK) Women’s University to lift its standards.

A meeting of the university’s Senate presided over by the governor on Saturday decided that rules and regulations of the university would be followed strictly.

The meeting withdrew the appointment of Dr Sajida Naureen as vice chancellor of the university.

It also decided that all new appointments in the university would be made through advertisements. It also discussed the matters related to the university’s administration and finance.

Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Anjum informed the governor about the university’s performance and problems faced by it.

Provincial higher education secretary Saboor Kakar also attended the meeting.

Inaugurated on March 18, 2004, SBK Women’s University started Masters programme in May 2004 and Bachelor of Science programme in 2005.

It was named after former agent to the governor general and chief commissioner of Balochistan, Sardar Bahadur Khan.

Its first convocation was held in the middle of 2006.

The main campus of the university is spread over about 40 acres and also houses a hostel and a library.

The university’s sub-campuses have also been set up at Nushki, Khuzdar and Pishin.

It endeavours to provide the women of Balochistan and the rest of Pakistan education of high standard and teach them best skills, regardless of creed, class or age.

The university aspires to impart education which not only develops the minds of women but also makes them socially responsible citizen.
