SHEIKHUPURA: A 16-year-old maid was allegedly tortured to death by her employer at Rachna Town in the Ferozwala police jurisdictions here on Monday.

The victim was identified as Zainab who was working at the house of Imran Virk. According to Zainab’s family, Imran was not paying her salary regularly. When they approached Imran, asking for the salary payment, he made a promise to make the payment on Monday.

Zainab demanded her salary on Monday and Imran got furious and thrashed her with iron rods. When she fell unconscious, she was thrown at the gate of the DHQ Hospital where she died. Police took her body to morgue and sent samples to the forensic laboratory in Lahore.

In another incident, District Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin, in an open court, took action on an application regarding rape of 13-year-old girl student of a seminary and got her rapist teacher arrested.

The girl’s uncle had submitted an application to the DPO, stating that his minor niece was studying at the madressa at Nadimabad where teacher had been raping her for the last two months.

The complainant said when he approached the Manawala police, they didn’t take action.

At this, the DPO asked the Manawala police to take action and they arrested the suspect.
