QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has ordered action against the contractor and officials over alleged use of low quality material in the Ziarat Development project.
The chief minister’s order followed Chief Minister Inspection Team’s (CMIT) report which recommended action against the contractor and government officials concerned for allowing use of substandard material in the construction work.
Mr Alyani also ordered the CMIT to send the case of all those involved in the matter to Anti-Corruption Department for taking strict action against them for causing huge loss to national exchequer.
On several complaints about alleged irregularities in Ziarat Ankasy Development Project, the CM in July this year had directed the CMIT to visit the construction site and submit a report to Chief Minister Secretariat about the project.
According to CMIT report, the contractor used low-quality material in the project and, in collusion with some officials of the Communication and Works Department, without permission revised cost of the project and used corrupt practices in procurement of goods needed for the scheme.
