ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Islamabad on Wednesday summoned three officials of British counter-terrorism command on Dec 2 to record testimony in Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand was scheduled to record the statement of three of these officials on Nov 6. However, due to ongoing Azadi March the special prosecutor of the federal investigation agency Khawaja Mohammad Imtiaz requested the court to adjourn the proceedings till Dec 2 as the prosecutor expressed the hope the sit-in would end by the next month.

The officials were custodians of the record related to Imran Farooq murder case which the UK government recently handed over to Pakistan.

Among the evidence Pakistan received from the UK central authority is the CCTV footage of the murder incident, forensic and postmortem reports, recovery memo, statements of the investigating officer and 23 witnesses.

The prosecution informed the ATC that out of the 23 British witnesses, three — the custodian of the case record - would appear before the court to testify whereas the others would record their statements through a video link.
