SARGODHA: The Grand Health Alliance, Sargodha chapter, on Friday decided to hold a strike at inpatient and outpatient departments of the DHQ Teaching Hospital today (Saturday) in protest against the government’s reluctance to pay heed to legitimate demands of the alliance at the provincial level.

The strike will continue till the acceptance of demands.

Dr Waqas Ahmad, chairman Grand Health Alliance, made the announcement after in a joint meeting here.

He said that the seniors and junior doctors, paramedics, staff nurses and representatives of other health employees also attended the meeting and unanimously decided to support the Grand Health Alliance’s strike.

CORRUPTION: The district administration took notice of misappropriation of huge funds in installation of filtration plants and public toilets in the city. It would send the case against the corrupt elements to the National accountability Bureau (NAB).

This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner Asia Gul while talking to the media at the press club.

She said efforts would be made to ensure provision of basic amenities to the citizens and a master plan, including beautification of the city, had been chalked out to control artificial price hike, shifting of milk vendors along with their cattle to Gawala Colony, removal of encroachments and functioning of all traffic signals.

Ms Gul said all the stakeholders would be taken into confidence while finalising welfare projects to ensure transparency.

She said corruption would not be tolerated and no compromise would be made on quality. She also planted a sapling in the courtyard of the press club.

The DC later visited Thalassemia Centre of DHQ Teaching Hospital where Dr Tanveer Sulehria told her that hundreds of children were being provided treatment with the assistance of philanthropists. She assured the hospital of launching a fund-raising campaign with the collaboration of Gymkhana Club.
