LAHORE: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai met PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal here on Saturday and discussed the opposition’s strategy regarding ‘Azadi March’.

According to the PML-N, both leaders discussed various aspects of the march announced by the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl), expressing the hope that the masses would participate in the protest against the “selected government” led by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Oct 31 for “making their lives miserable”.

They said giving more time to Prime Minister Imran Khan would be detrimental for the country “as he had completely failed on every front”.

They said fresh election was the only solution to drive the country out of crises.

They condemned the government for ‘inhumane’ treatment meted out to former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz and PML-N Punjab president Rana Sanaullah in jail.

RALLY: The PML-N on Saturday wrote to Lahore deputy commissioner, seeking permission for holding a “Kashmir solidarity rally” on Oct 27 on The Mall.

The party said since it wanted to observe a ‘black day’ on Oct 27 to express solidarity with the Kashmiris it should be issued a no objection certificate (NOC) for holding a rally on The Mall.

Meanwhile, PML-N Punjab information secretary Azma Bokhari has said the PTI government was trying hard to stop ‘Azadi March’ through undemocratic means.

“Had this government come to power with the votes of the people it would not have been afraid of any sit-in or protest,” she said.

“Khan’s government is subjecting Maryam Nawaz to inhumane treatment in the jail which is highly condemnable,” she said.
