KARACHI: The British Council Pakistan is hosting the largest cohort of leading UK universities across three cities in the country as part of the Study UK Exhibition Tour, said a statement on Tuesday.

Since 2014, it said, the annual exhibitions have attracted thousands of young people and adults looking to pursue their higher education in the UK.

The Study UK Exhibition is an initiative by the British Council to provide access and share knowledge about educational opportunities in the UK, said the statement and added that studying in the UK offers potential students prospects of high-quality education and experience necessary to succeed in their chosen field.

“We are delighted to host the largest cohort of UK universities touring Pakistan,” the statement quoted Michael Houlgate, director of Sindh and Balochistan for British Council as saying.

“Our work creates educational opportunities for young people and aspiring leaders throughout Pakistan. Pakistani students, during the course of gaining competitive UK qualifications, can now gain professional experience as well. Studying and working in the UK with some of the top-rated universities provides young people and adults increased opportunities in terms of careers across the globe.”

It said that the new immigration policy would allow international students who will successfully complete their degree in the UK to stay in the UK for two years to work or to find work.

After the Karachi event, held on Tuesday at a local hotel, the Study UK Exhibition will tour Islamabad and Lahore.

The visiting UK universities will spend a day in each city to guide individuals on various programmes, scholarship opportunities and living and studying in the UK, said the statement.
