SWABI: With the detection of eight more dengue fever patients here on Saturday, the total number of dengue positive cases in the district reached 170, said officials.

District health officer Dr Niaz Mohammad said that eight new patients of dengue fever had been admitted in Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor and Razaar tehsil headquarters hospital.

The new cases surfaced a day after the officials of the district administration and health department claimed that the dengue virus was under control.

In Razaar tehsil, the far-flung Naranji was the most affected area where a number of people suffered from dengue fever. The district administration has established isolation wards for dengue patients in Bacha Khan Hospital and tehsil headquarters hospitals.

Meanwhile, anti-mosquito spray was carried out in all the affected regions of the district.

When contacted, an official concerned said that they could not conduct the spray in all regions because of its harmful effects on the health of some people, especially those suffering from respiratory problems.

CHARAS SEIZED: Police recovered eight kilogrammes of charas and arrested two people here on Saturday.

SHO Niaz Ali told mediapersons that they conducted an operation against drug sellers and recovered over four kilogrammes of charas and arrested one Ishtiaq Khan.

Kalu Khan police SHO Khalid Iqbal said that they had arrested a man, identified as Zeeshan Khan, and recovered four kilogrammes of charas from him. Separate FIRs have been registered against the two arrested persons.
