ISLAMABAD: The government’s poverty alleviation programme, ‘Ehsaas’ is partnering with a trust to open ‘Ehsaas Langar’ (soup kitchen) in the federal capital.

This joint initiative will later be extended to the entire country, particularly in Karachi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta and Peshawar.

Under this public-private partnership arrangement, the federal government is extending on-the-ground facilitation and support while the Saylani Welfare International Trust (SWIT) is bringing in its kitchen and food distribution resources to feed the needy every day.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Sania Nishtar visited the trust’s food distribution and kitchen sites in Karachi and Quetta to explore ways of collaboration.

Giving details, Dr Nishtar said Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed that ‘Langars’ should be opened so that no one should go hungry.

She also talked of her meeting with the prime minister and said the latter was very hopeful about the success of ‘Ehsaas Langar’.

With this service, the needy will not have to worry about food, she said, and stressed the need to ensure integrity and quality in service delivery to feed the needy with respect and dignity.

SWIT President Yousaf Lakhani assured the government of full cooperation on behalf of the trust.
