QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that running government in the country’s largest province is not an easy task as all coalition partners have to be taken along, but that does not mean he ignores corruption.

“I have zero tolerance for corruption,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team and anti-corruption department had reviewed 1,000 schemes and taken action against many people.

“There is a need for teamwork to run the government as it can’t be run single handedly,” he said, adding that huge sacrifices were given for restoration of peace to the province.

CM Alyani said: “I am working with honesty. Maulana Fazlur Rehman lauded us [the government] in a meeting and dubbed the meeting as the one meant for seeking NRO.”

He said Balochistan was on the road to development. For the restoration of peace, security forces along with the masses had rendered huge sacrifices as all institutions were jointly working for peace and development in Balochistan. “2019 is the year of development of Balochistan; we have laid the foundation of development,” he said.

Responding to a question, he said that the Senate became a political arena due to the no-trust motion against Senate chairman. “Such things should not have happened. After that process, the political parties themselves did not feel good,” he added.

Mr Alyani said he personally did not see anything in the LNG case because at that time, even a state minister did not authorise, sign or comment on it. But as this issue was with the National Accountability Bureau and the judiciary, they would take a better decision, he remarked.
