ISLAMABAD: The ministry of education has once again appointed a temporary chairman of Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (Peira).

According to a notification issued on July 25, Joint Secretary Ministry of Education Ayesha Khalid, will look after the affairs of Peira on temporary basis in addition to her own duties.

The ministry of education, which is supposed to look after the affairs of public and private educational institutions of the capital city has also failed to appoint regular director general of Federal Directorate of Education.

The two bodies are being run on ad hoc basis for the last many years and PTI government, which has completed its first year, also failed to make regular appointments on the two important posts.

Joint Secretary Ayesha Khalid has replaced acting chairman Imtiaz Qureshi, member of Peira.

“During my tenure, I followed the rules, I did nothing wrong. I was replaced as a routine matter and ministry has given charge to JS,” the outgoing Peira head said.

Sources in education ministry said efforts were underway to appoint regular Peira chairman. A few days ago, the ministry got approval of MP-II school position for the post of Peira chairman. “Within few weeks, the post will be advertised,” said an officer of the ministry.
