QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet on Tuesday approved immediate release of the remaining Rs428 million allocated for the Balochistan Endowment Fund in the last year’s budget.

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani presided over the meeting of the provincial cabinet.

Secretary of Social Welfare Department Imran Gichki briefed the cabinet about the use of the endowment fund and said that Rs700m had been released last year through which 88 cancer and kidney patients had been provided financial help and Rs271m was spent on their treatment.

The cabinet directed the finance department to release the remaining amount of Rs428m.

The cabinet also approved technical assistance from international health institutions for utilisation of the funds.

The cabinet expressed its satisfaction over the funds spent on the treatment of cardiac, liver, kidney and cancer patients from the government exchequer without any discrimination.
