RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two persons, including a policeman, were killed while as many were injured in front of Kot Sabzal Police Station of tehsil Sadiqabad, some 56km from here on Sunday.

Reports said CIA Sadiqabad Head Constable Mumtaz Billa was sitting with his friends at his shop in Iqbal Market when three burqa-clad persons arrived there on two motorcycles.

They opened fire on Mumtaz and his friends and fled. As a result, Mumtaz and his private driver, Abdul Maalik, died on the spot while his two friends, Abdul Malook and Saeed, were injured.

They were shifted to Sadiqabad Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

BOOKED: Nine people were booked for gang-raping a married woman at Abbasia Town of Rahim Yar Khan.

The district police officer’s spokesman, Zeeshan Randhawa, said DPO Umar Farooq Salamat had taken notice of incident and City A-Division police registered the case against the suspects.

The first information report says five suspects had kidnapped the woman, a mother of three, from the National Bank Road on July 12 and took her at their outhouse where four other drunken men were present. They all raped the woman.

Randhawa said the woman’s family had shifted to Khanpur city from Pakpattan and then Abbasia Town of Rahim Yar Khan. Randhawa alleged that the landlords of Chak 123-P were also involved in this incident.

The police were allegedly reluctant to register the case.

When the victim used social media to highlight her issue, the DPO took notice of the incident and the FIR was lodged on his intervention.
