FAISALABAD: PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira says the charges against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be withdrawn if the video of accountability judge Arshad Malik is genuine.

He also demands the forensic audit of the video.

“More than four million people have been rendered jobless in the country. We will have to topple the government if it does not change its policies,” Mr Kaira said while addressing a press conference on Friday.

He said the common man was facing numerous problems due to the new taxes and the coalition parties of the government were also perturbed over the price hike. He said the PPP had started a public mass contact movement.

“The people are taking to the road on their own following inflation and the situation is critical in the country,” he added

Regarding the matter of Senate chairman, Mr Kaira said a majority of the people had difference of opinion with the chairman and he should leave his seat on his own.

In the last 11 months, he said, corruption allegations had been levelled, however, nothing had been proved so far.

“The masses are being exploited daily in the name of eradication of corruption. The selected government has been installed but it lacks ability to deliver and every segment of society is protesting against the government.”

The PPP leader said the people who were being called the biggest thieves were a part of the government and the people who had installed the government had again started preparing the turncoats.

“Do not play with the public opinion and let them choose the government on their own. Self-accountability is mandatory to run the country affairs smoothly,” Mr Kaira suggested.

He criticised the government for not honouring the constitution and the judiciary and the departments were facing pressure while the people were pointing fingers at the judiciary.

The government departments are intervening into the political affairs, he said adding power was not solution to any issue.
