SHANGLA: The electricity transformer of district headquarters hospital, Shangla, which developed fault two weeks ago could not be repaired as yet, causing problems for the doctors in examining the patients.

According to the hospital staff, the transformer of the DHQ hospital in Alpuri went out of order two weeks ago. They said that they had taken a temporary connection from a local mini-power station, but its voltage was too low to be used for running the hospital machines.

Dr Shafiul Mulk, the hospital MS, said that the transformer was repaired several times, but due to overload it developed faults frequently. He said that the hospital management was making efforts to arrange money for repair of the transformer though it was the job of Pesco.

He said that lack of proper power supply was also affecting the patient care at the hospital. He said that they were compelled to send patients for X-ray and other tests to private centres where they were charged heavily.

Sadar Khan, a local lawyer, said that the patients visiting the major hospital of the district had been suffering due to suspension of power supply. He said that the Pesco authorities should take prompt action and repair the transformer as soon as possible to ensure smooth health care services to the people.
