MUZAFFARGARH: The parents of a class six student -- Muhammad Awais (12) -- have appealed to philanthropists and government quarters to arrange treatment for their son, who has been fighting deadly blood cancer for over two years here in Jatoi area of Muzaffargargh.

Awais belongs to a poor family and his father Ghulam Yaseen runs a motorcycle rickshaw to make end meet. Yaseen said his son was a brilliant student in the Government High School, Gudpur, and everything was going well until he fell ill two years ago. A precious time was wasted in quacks’ treatment. Later, the Nishtar Hospital doctors diagnosed him with blood cancer. Since then, his family has been bearing treatment expenses by selling their small land. Doctors have asked them to arrange Rs2.5 millions for treatment. In frail health but optimistic, Awais said if he survived the disease, he promised he would return the money to the donors when he grew up.

Yaseen appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and real estate builder Malik Raiz Husain to help him get his son treated.
